DCC - No Squares Anywhere on the Card

It's DCC Wednesday at Repeat Impressions and this week Deonna selected the challenge - No Squares Anywhere on the Card.  I took this opportunity to pull out my hex dies again - they are a current favorite of mine.

The card base is one I cut out myself.  I took my largest hex nesties and just measured an inch around each edge.  I kept the upper edge on the fold to create the card.  Then I cut several pieces of printed paper using a smaller hex die.  I scattered them across the card and used a medium sized hex as my focal point.  The sentiment is one of my favorites - Happy Birthday - 8606-E from the Quartet Compliments series.  I added some random faux stitching to continue the hex theme.

You can go here and see the cards created by the rest of the RI Rockstars.

So now its your chance to think outside the box......or the squares, you might say.  Create your card with no squares on it, link it to the RI blog and you will be entered into a random drawing to win an amazing prize - an uncut sheet of images of the winner choice from the RI store.  How awesome is that?  You can go here to see the full details.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you get the chance to play along.

SOTW - Jester Banner

Happy Monday!!!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I know I did.  Our son is home for the week, so we have some time together before he heads back to school after Labor Day.  It's his last semester of college so there are a lot of changes ahead of us.

Its time to stop getting ahead of myself and focus on today.  Repeat Impressions is featuring this week's SOTW.   It called Jester Banner - 2620-K.  As our featured SOTW, this adorable image is on sale for 50% off - but for this week only.  Get it while you can, at that amazing discount price.

What a perfect way to announce any event, especially a birthday than with this happy jester.

Here is my card using this adorable image.

I'm still loving the cards featuring a chalkboard-ish focal point.  So cute!! The verse "count your blessings" - 3106-D is also from RI.  Its a phrase I need to consider far more often than I do.  I added the film strip with the numbers to stress counting those blessings.

So now remember, this adorable images is the featured SOTW which means it is at the amazing price of 50% off but this week only.  Go here to see the full details on this offer.

What a way to kick off the week.

What If? Wednesday - Sketch A2113

Wendy from Repeat Impression has another amazing sketch for us this week.  I'm lovin' this sketch.

a2113

I'm always amazed at how you can take 4 completely different pieces printed paper (but with similar colors), place them just right, and they create an amazing background for any images. That's what this sketch does.  Soooooo cool!

Here is my card.  The image I used is called Dandelions - 1713-J.  The sentiment is Happy Birthday - 8606-E for the Quartet Compliments series.

So RI Rockstars are not the only ones who get to play with this sketch.  You can play along too. Create your own card using this sketch, link it here on the RI blog, and you will be entered in a drawing for an amazing prize - a $25 gift certificate to the RI Store.   You can go here to see the cards created by the other RI Rockstars and then go here and see the complete rules so that you can play along.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you get a chance to play along.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #179 - black and white photo images

Last week I participated in the Sassy Cheryl challenge - 'Anything but a card' and I won.  How fun is that??? It was a random drawing but still super fun to win.

I saw this weeks challenge - using black and white images - and wanted to play along.  I've been seeing black & white images on cards and I having been meaning to give it a try. That's what I love about challenges.  They give you that push to try something you've never tried before or have been meaning to try.   Challenges just give me that little nudge I that I need.

Here is my card using a black & white Sassy Cheryl image.

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to try this new technique.

Send A Smile 4 Kids - Animal Cards 4 Kids

I love S.A.S.4K.'s Saturday.  Sometimes, even with a hobby like card making, I start to take things too seriously.  That all goes away with S.A.S.4K.'s Saturday.  I'm free to bring out the bright colors and just have fun.  The theme for this week's challenge is Animal Cards 4 Kids.  What could be more fun than these adorable animal images.  Soooooo cute!!!

The image on my first card is from Bugaboo.  I love Bugaboo images.   They are all super cute but especially all the little animals and critter images they have.  This is one of my favorites - it's called Giraffe heart 2.

Here's a close up so you can see how I popped it.  I'm not sure where this sentiment is from.   It's part of a mystery set I picked up at my local Goodwill.

The image on my second card is from Dollar Graphics Depot.  This adorable zebra is from the Baby Zoo Animals set - from the original artwork of Alice Smith.  How cute is he?!?!

Want to see a close up???

So, do you just want to have some fun? No seriousness, just some free spirited fun?   Pull out your animal images and create a card or maybe a few - remember, these cards should be kid friendly. Link your card(s) on the S.A.S.4K.'s blog, and you will be entered into a random drawing for some amazing prizes from this weeks sponsors. S.A.S.4K.'s also selects a 'top 3' so show us your talent and you may be spotlighted for it.  Go here to see the complete rules.

I haven't forgotten about our amazing sponsors for this weeks challenge.  A huge thank you to these special folks for their generosity.

Don't forget that Send A Smile 4 Kids is an amazing cause.   They collect hand made cards to be given out to kids who are patients at several children's hospitals across the country.  Won't you help brighten a childs day?  Go here to see the full details about how to donate you cards.

Saturated Canary - Challenge #49 - Set your Creativity Free

I love Saturated Canary images and I love camping, so there was no question about whether I was going to snag this adorable image.

There is a little story in my history about a flaming marshmallow.  Someday I'll tell you that story.  Anyway, every time I see an image with marshmallows and a campfire, I can't help but smile.

Here's a close up of this adorable image.

I am entering this card in the challenge on the Saturated Canary blog - Set Your Creativity Free.

Repeat Impressions - DCC Challenge - Anything With Wings

Its time for another fun DCC challenge over at the Repeat Impressions blog. This week, Karen had the honor of selecting our challenge and she chose "anything with wings".  Great choice!

Here is my card. If there is an award for using the most RI images on a card, I must just have captured that.  The jar is RI image Mason Jar - 4515-K.  The lovely little lightening bugs are part of the Bug FLIP set  - 7607-W.  I used both single bug portion of the set and the double.  Last, I used the RI sentiment Brighten.

Here's a close up so you can see that I've popped the mason jar to give it some dimension.   How cute are all those little bugs.  LOTS of wings there.

Now its your turn to play along.   Grab your image with wings - preferably an RI image - to create a card, link it here on the RI blog and you will be entered in a random drawing for an amazing prize - a $25 gift certificate to the RI store.  Go here to see the complete rules for the challenge.

I hope you'll get the chance to play along.

Beccy's Place August Challenge

I've have been stopping by Beccy's Place for quite some time admiring her adorable images, but this is my first time playing along with one of her challenges.

The challenge is to create a project using any of Beccy's image.   Our mild temps here in Central Wisconsin, has everyone talking about fall so that has me in the mood to use fall/Halloween colors.  Beccy has this adorable image that fits my crafting mood.

That spider web background is a vellum from Martha Stuart.  The rest of my patterned papers are from the 'Eerie' paper pack from Basic Grey.   Of course, the jack-o-lantern is colored in with Copic markers.

Here's a close up if you'd like to see it.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Meljen Challenge #172 - Wishing You Were Here

Every so often I drop by Meljen's Design's.  I love her digi images and they have fun challenges as well.  This week is no different - the challenge is called 'wishing you were here'.  I actually need a 'missing you' card, so this works out perfect for me.

Here is my card...... Isn't this image adorable?  So fun to color up with my Copic markers.

The sentiment is something I created on my computer using Kristen ITC font.  The chevron paper is from Simple Stories.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Send A Smile 4 Kids - Anything Goes 4 Kids

Today's challenge at S.A.S.4K.'s is one of my favorites - Anything Goes 4 Kids.   As much as I love making cards, making kids cards takes it to another level. I get to be silly and fun and use bright colors (which I generally stay away from).

S.A.S.4K.'s always has some amazing sponsors and this challenge is no different. Check out this weeks amazing sponsors.
All 3 are amazing prizes from our wonderful sponsors.

Here is my first card.  This image is from Scrapping Memories. Isn't this little scuba diva just the cutest?!  I've been seeing a lot of different scuba images around this summer but this one is my favorite.

Here's the close up so you can see that the little water bubbles.  This grosgrain ribbon just happened to match the color I had colored the little swim suit. I love when things fall into place like that.

Here's card number 2 - This image is from Stamping Dragon Designs.  It's called Penny with bag.  Another super cute image.

Here's the close up - gotta have a close up.

I colored the images on both cards with my beloved Copic markers.  The papers are from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Be sure to go to the S.A.S.4K.'s blog to see all the cards created by the talented design team. Wow! They have some amazing cards for you.  Now its your turn - create a card or cards with an 'anything goes 4 kids' theme, link it to the S.A.S.4K.'s blog and you will be entered in a random drawing for those amazing prizes I have listed above.  You can go here to see the full challenge rules.  S.A.S.4K.'s also picks their top 3 which is quite an honor.

Don't forget, you can also donate your cards 4 kids.  All cards go to children's hospitals around he country to help boost the spirits of kids who need to spend time in those hospitals.  What an amazing cause - won't you help?  Go here to see the full details of how to donate your cards.

Thanks so much and have an amazing weekend!
